Open in Batch

The "Open in Batch" command in BIMO Add-in for Revit enables batch opening of multiple documents in Autodesk Revit, offering options for managing worksets, detachment, and local copy creation, optimizing workflow efficiency for large projects or multiple file management.

Configuration Settings

Upon activating the command, the following settings can be configured to tailor the document opening process to specific needs.

  • Local copy folder :

    Local copy folder :

Define the default local directory where the local copies of the files will be stored if 'Detach' is disabled. This ensures that all operations remain centralized in a user-specified location, enhancing file management.

  • Model filepath :

  • Detach :

    Detach :

Specifies whether the document should be opened in a detached state, useful for creating a separate copy for testing or backup purposes without affecting the central model.

  • Workset pattern :

    Workset pattern :

Define a pattern to control which worksets are opened when the document is loaded. Patterns are treated as wildcards, allowing for straightforward matching.

  • Inverse the workset pattern :

    Inverse the workset pattern :

If enabled, worksets matching the pattern will be closed instead of opened, allowing for selective visibility of project components.

Using Patterns for Worksets

Workset patterns allow you to specify which worksets should be opened or closed based on their names. The pattern uses wildcards to match multiple workset names and can be inverted to close matching worksets instead.

  • Basic Wildcards :

    Basic Wildcards :

    • *: Matches any sequence of characters.
    • ?: Matches any single character.
These wildcards help in identifying worksets based on common naming conventions.

  • Example Patterns :

    Example Patterns :

    • Arch*: Opens all worksets starting with "Arch".
    • *Temp*: Matches any workset containing "Temp" in its name.
    • Structural: Opens the workset exactly named "Structural".
Use patterns to efficiently manage large models by controlling which worksets are loaded.

By enabling "Inverse the workset pattern", you can close worksets that match the pattern instead of opening them. This is useful for hiding temporary or less relevant worksets by default.

Executing the Command

After setting up the desired configurations, click the 'Execute' button to start the batch opening process. The documents will be opened in the specified manner, allowing for efficient management and operation.

Post-Execution

Upon successful execution, all specified documents will be open in Revit, ready for further actions such as review, editing, or data extraction, based on the predefined settings.
